What Can I install Windows XP in Windows 7 using Virtual Box

I want to install Windows XP in Windows 7 using Virtual Box. How do I do this? Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Mr.Bruce Epper

When you create the VM, you will get better performance using a fixed size virtual disk, so make it large enough to handle all of the apps you will be installing inside of the VM. You should also boost the amount of memory from the suggested default. Other than those items, it is the same process as installing on bare metal. If you are doing this to test software, you should create a base VM with all appropriate updates and just clone that when you need a new VM for testing.

Mr.Irshaad Abdool

make sure you have enough RAM to share between your host and virtual machine
for the VMs, its rather simple
you create a new virtual machine, and set the drive to read either the Windows disk in your dvd-drive (physical) or read from an image found somewhere on your PC.
remember to configure the Network settings too, set the VM to use ‘bridge mode’.
for removable devices, they may not be recognized when launching the VM, you will have to enable each of them(except core ones) from the menu bar under ‘Devices’.
also, usually you cannot browse folders on the host from the VM and vice-verca, so, remember to create a shared folder for file transfer or use a removable storage device (pen drives and the like)

Mr.FIDELIS

Hello, have you installed and opera-rating system before? If you have it should be no different installing it inside a virtual machine software. Only thing you have to be aware of is that you might want to change some of the default settings in your virtual machine. Most of the changes involved would be to get a better experience when running the virtual machine. The more memory you can assign to it the better, but remember not to assign it all.
